Case Study 2 | Media

Case Study of Anchor Electricals Ltd.

The Situation:

Anchor Electricals Ltd. was losing revenue and brand loyalty in spite of using a 2D / 3D hologram afixed on their switches. The counterfeiters were afixing "Look Alike" labels on the switches to con the customers.

We were approached by Anchor Electricals Ltd. for an authentication solution to overcome this problem.

The Offering:

We recommended the use of a high-security hologram, which would enable the customer to easily identify the genuine product, and moreover, the hologram could not be replicated. We developed the high-security hologram to be afixed on the switch bodies and cartons.

The Outcome:

There was an increase in the sales volume, without any additional promotional expenses or efforts by the client. The results of the applied solution were seen immediately.
Realising the effectiveness of the solution, Anchor Electricals Ltd. then decided to make similar high-security holograms for the cables manufactured by them.
To add value and security to the packaging of some of the products that were packaged in pouches with upto 8 color printing, we provided a holographic strip and a complete holographic pouch.

The effectiveness of the customised holographic solution offered by us for their different products can be assessed by the continuous increase in their monthly requirement of holograms and holographic products.

A Holographic Packaging Success Story

The Situation:

MICO Bosch is INDIA’S LARGEST DFI (DIESEL FILTER INSERT) manufacturer with an ANNUAL TURNOVER of USD 240 Mn
out of which the MICO - DFI SALES amount up to USD 24 Mn per annum. (Figures are 2002)

MICO - DFI MARKET SHARE
- UNDER MICO BRAND 75%
- GENUINE IS 50%
- COUNTERFEIT IS 50%
- POTENTIAL TO DOUBLE THE MARKET SHARE

MICO Bosch needed an ANTI-COUNTERFEIT MECHANISM which the consumer could identify easily while purchase. PPL was approached for the solution to integrate holograms into the primary carton and overhaul the entire carton design and look.
Due to it's exisiting relationship with EHL, PPL banked on us to provide a state-of-the-art holographic solution for the same.

The Offering:

The existing carton was a four colour offset printed box.
We proposed a carton that was EIGHT COLOUR ROTOGRAVURE PRINTED, LAMINATED CARTON WITH CUSTOMISED SECURITY HOLOGRAM.
A TUCK-IN CARTON was changed TO A GLUE-FLAP CARTON.

The hologram was a 3D Multilayer hologram with the text of "MICO - Genuine Spares" on the concept of MICO Wheels. It was easy to distinguish and very difficult to copy.

The Outcome:

MICO DFI Sales showed an increase of 17% since introduction.
MICO conducted raids on counterfeiters as the holographic cartons were easy to distinguish.
The success of the authentication solution encouraged plans to increase the product-line and to introduce holographic pouches for other products.
